In 1999, in the London "Serpentine Gallery" (in Kensington Gardens) I saw
an exhibition of Bridget Riley. Her works are an example of Op Art (Optical
Art).
Optical Art uses colors and simple geometric shapes such as dots and lines, usually in very large (physically) pictures, to together achieve a stunning, almost hypnotic, effect in the viewer.
The picture on the right is Bridget Riley's 1964 "Loss". I also compiled a large gallery of her work, which you can find here.
Menashe Kadishman is a well-known Israeli painter and sculptor, born 1932.
He has many types of works, but in recent years one of his favorite painting
subjects has been sheep: flocks, shepherds, pastures, and my personal
favorite: sheep portraits. I probably like these sheep pictures because I
love animals, and sheep in particular.
The picture on the right is one of Menashe Kadishman's sheep portraits. I also compiled an online gallery with some of his his sheep-related work which you can find here.
